Projects

The University College of Tourism and Ecology (Wyższa Szkoła Turystyki i Ekologii) reads market needs on an ongoing basis and fits into the significantly accelerated current rhythm of social and economic life of the city, region and country. It conducts a number of initiatives aimed at making the university a significant partner in the IT, tourist and administrative sectors, and these are:

  • Establish contacts and introduce a number of valuable initiatives for the benefit of the school and the region at national and international level.
  • Promotion of the city, the region and Poland abroad.
  • Cooperation with Jagiellonian University in coordination of plans and curricula for bachelor degree studies in political science conducted at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Department of International and Political Studies and continuation of second degree studies in the same field of study at Jagiellonian University.
  • Cooperation agreement with the Foundation for the Development of the Jagiellonian University.
  • Renovation of the Suski Castle called „Small Wawel” for the needs of the WSTiE; protection of Polish national heritage and practical use of historic rooms.
  • Participation in the LEADER+ project LOCAL ACTION GROUP „ŁĄCZY NAS BABIA GÓRA” FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF PODBABIOGÓRA, implemented in the area of 6 rural communes and 1 town-rural commune of the Babia Góra Region; one of the strategic objectives of the project is the cooperation of various sectors of the Babia Góra Region capable of undertaking joint initiatives for the development of the sub-region.
  • Cooperation with the Local Education Authority in Cracow – organizing under the auspices of the Local Education Authority a competition for a WSTiE university pass for secondary schools and a free year of studies: The Idea of Information Society within the project „Computer Science Opens the Doors of Tomorrow” and The Importance of Tourism in the Regional Development within the project „Free Your Imagination”.
  • Co-organization, together with the European Information Centre in Cracow, of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of signing the Treaties of Rome establishing the European Economic Community (EEC) and the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom).
  • Promotion of Polish culture and science; assistance in establishing contacts and concluding contracts by Polish entrepreneurs.
  • Cooperation with the local High School: exchange of experiences, participation of high school students in selected classes, joint undertakings within the scientific circles.
  • Active in student sections, study circles and clubs.
  • Conducting cyclical action of honorable blood donation „Wampiriada” organized by students of WSTiE.
  • Charity for the pupils of the School and Education Centre in Katowice, the orphanage in Radocza and the Disabled Children’s Association in Wadowice in cooperation with the Monttis Hotel.
  • Organization of open lectures and panel discussions for the residents of Sucha Beskidzka County with representatives of the world of science, economy and social life institutions in cooperation with the Sucha Beskidzka Town Hall.
  • Cooperation with the Sucha Beskidzka Town Museum in organizing thematic exhibitions.
  • Engaging in the work of the Municipal Cultural Center by organizing science competitions, panel discussions, and trainings.
  • Cooperation with the All-Poland Railway Trails Development Forum for restoring systematic operation of the Chabówka – Nowy Sącz line.

Activities in the European Union

  • Cooperation with the Rural Development University of Europe APURE, associating 15 countries of the Community and Canada, which for twenty years has been spreading the principles of sustainable rural development in Europe. Organization in June 2008 of a prestigious undertaking of an international scale – an anniversary session of APURE on the subject of „Rural Development in Europe. Education, culture and tradition as a source of innovation and modernity” by the University College of Tourism and Ecology – the exclusive representative of APURE in Poland.
  • Participation in the French partnership of the Leader Programme – cooperation agreement with the French National Park of Lorraine.
  • Cooperation with the town of Saint Joseph on Réunion Island for rural development and mutual exchange of experiences and good practices in culture and education.
  • Cooperation with AGRARIA Association of Szolnoku, Hungary for rural development and mutual exchange of experiences and good practices in culture and education.
  • Cooperation with the Polish Community Centre in France.
  • Cooperation in organizing World Day of Polonia.
  • Organizing regional workshops in primary and secondary schools in France. Teaching local crafts by WSTiE students and emissaries.
  • Signing of a cooperation agreement between four rural municipalities and one urban municipality from Hungary and Poland.
  • Initiating contact and active participation in the implementation of a cooperation agreement between the County of Suski and the French region of Pais de Calais.
  • National Board of the Professional Formation for Tourism „Formatur” – Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Cuba.
