Social impact of research

WSTiE > Science and research > Social impact of research

The social impact of scientific activity on the functioning of society and the economy should be understood as a positive social effect (benefit) brought about by scientific activity. It allows us to show that scientific activity affects not only the academic world, but also the socio-economic environment. In addition to teaching, carrying out research projects and publishing, non-academic activities for the benefit of society are an important part of the activities of modern universities (the so-called „third mission” of universities).

The University College of Tourism and Ecology, in the framework of its scientific research, attaches great importance to the implementation of the results of its activities and to achieving real effects of its research, which is evidenced by the following examples of social impact of the scientific activities of WSTiE.

  • Diagnosis – influence of the cableway operation on the increase in tourist attendance in the high mountain zone of the Tatra National Park.
  • Investigation of a potential tourist facility called Brama w Gorce Educational and Nature Center.
  • Implementation of a research project in 23 National Parks to develop a model for optimizing park operations in a socio-economic environment.
  • Implementation of a research project to build new quality in National Parks taking into account the expectations and potential of the socio-economic environment.
